The Triathlon exhibits the injection performance that you can expect from one of the most modern sample changers: relative standard deviation of 0.3% with «flushed loop injection» and 0.5% with «partial loop filling». «Flushed loop» means that the whole loop contents is injected as the sample. In the «partial loop» technique the loop is only partially filled, e.g. with 5 µL sample, the remaining loop volume contains the eluent. No carryover: after each injection the sample path is rinsed with the 10-fold volume of any defined solution. This practically eliminates carryover effects. Special sample needle: the sample needle for small volumes is not necessarily the right one for piercing the septum of the sample vial. This is why the Triathlon uses two different needles. One needle pierces the septum, the second is guided through the center of the first needle to the sample. The result: perfect sampling. Metal-free system: A metal-free system is essential for biological samples: In the Triathlon the whole of the sample path is made from top-quality plastics. The sample never comes into contact with any metal. Calibration: «partial loop injection» can be used simply and reproducibly for calibrating the IC system. Different standard concentrations can be injected with a mouse-click for multi-point calibrations. Small volumes: in the «pick up mode» 5 µL sample is sufficient for an analysis. In this case a transfer solution is used. In the «partial loop mode» 35 µL sample is sufficient for transfer and sample injection.
