Gas bubbles in eluents produce an unstable baseline as high-pressure pumps for ion chromatography can transport liquids but not gases. This is why it is advisable to degas eluents before use.
This can be done by using a water-jet vacuum pump or safely and quickly with the 837 IC Eluent Degasser.
The degasser module is simply inserted between the eluent vessel and the IC pump. The eluent then flows through the special Teflon-AF® capillary that is located in a vacuum chamber. The vacuum removes even microscopically small gas bubbles, excess carbon dioxide or nitrogen. Time-consuming manual eluent degassing is no longer necessary.
The 837 IC Eluent Degasser (version 0010) is equipped with two vacuum chambers so that two eluent flows can be degassed simultaneously.
Thanks to the electronically controlled vacuum pump, the 837 IC Eluent Degasser runs extremely quietly.
