The 833 IC Liquid Handling Suppressor Unit consists of two units:
- The two-channel peristaltic pump for transporting dilute sulfuric acid and water for regenerating and rinsing the suppressor
- The MSM Metrohm Suppressor Module itself that is installed, for example, in the 820 IC Separation Center.
Ion chromatography with Metrohm offers two options: measurements with electronic suppression and measurements with chemical suppression. For measurements with electronic suppression, the outstanding electronic properties of the Metrohm 819 IC Detector are utilized. These properties are also effective for measurements at low background conductivity after chemical suppression. The MSM Metrohm Suppressor Module has been specially designed for the analysis of anions, as suppression only achieves increased sensitivity in anion analysis.
The compact MSM Metrohm Suppressor Module works with three suppressor units in a rotor. One suppressor unit is always in use, while the two others are being regenerated and rinsed respectively. In this way each chromatogram is recorded with a freshly regenerated suppressor and with an excellent reproducibility. The individual suppressors cannot be distinguished from one another during the analysis.
The MSM is pressure-resistant up to 2 MPa. Higher pressures separate the two ceramic valve disks of the MSM and leakage occurs. Work can be continued as soon as the pressure returns to normal values - the MSM again functions properly.
The mature concept of the MSM allows the use of organic solvent fractions in eluents - the MSM is 100% solvent compatible - in order to optimize the separation or to prevent bacterial growth in the eluent.
The 833 IC Liquid Handling Suppressor Unit is controlled by the Metrodata IC Net software.
