The unique Metrohm inline sample preparation system is the method of choice for eliminating difficult sample matrices in ion chromatography. The time-proven MSM technology is used with an increased capacity. The 833 IC Liquid Handling Sample Preparation Unit used for anion analysis incorporates the sample preparation steps directly in your IC system. This means that you can directly and reliably analyze even difficult samples. A typical example is the determination of anions in concentrated alkalis.
Matrix elimination takes place «inline» regeneration and rinsing are carried out in parallel «offline». The capacity of the 833 IC Liquid Handling Sample Preparation Unit is unlimited as the unit is automatically regenerated and rinsed after each determination. The 833 IC Liquid Handling Sample Preparation Unit has been specially developed for inline sample preparation with the 766 IC Sample Processor. It can also be included in any other IC or HPLC system without any problems.
The sample solution enters the module via a loop injector and is rinsed with ultrapure water. In this way the sample cations are exchanged, e.g. for protons (H+). If the sample is sodium hydroxide then water is formed by neutralization. The sample is then transferred to the anion preconcentration column, where the trace anions to be determined are held back, then elution again takes place with the eluent in counterflow to transfer them to the separating column itself where they are determined. Thanks to the high exchanger capacity even high concentrations of cations can be reliably removed by the 833 IC Liquid Handling Sample Preparation Unit.
The 833 IC Liquid Handling Sample Preparation Unit is controlled by the Metrodata IC Net software.
