ANIONS: IC columns used with and without chemical suppression

The Metrosep A Supp 4 is an extremely robust column with excellent separating properties. The column hardware is made of PEEK (polyetherether ketone). The separating phase consists of polyvinyl alcohol particles with a diameter of 9 µm, which are coated with quaternary ammonium groups. This arrangement guarantees a high stability and great tolerance to very fine particles that could pass through the built-in filter plate. The Metrosep A Supp 4 has a medium ion exchange capacity; sulfate elutes after 12 min. The number of plates that can be achieved with this column is higher than with the Metrosep Dual 2 separating column. For 5 mg/L chloride and 10 mg/L sulfate, 5900 and 5800 theoretical plates have been determined respectively. Metrosep A Supp 4 is particularly suitable for all routine tasks in water analysis. Its universal applicability makes it the standard column for the Compact Metrohm IC Systems 792 Basic IC, 761 Compact IC and 861 Advanced Compact IC.

To protect the IC column - even though it is not particularly sensitive - we recommend the use of the Metrosep A Supp 4/5 Guard column (6.1006.500).
