The newly developed Metrosep Carb 1 IC column is particularly suitable for the determination of carbohydrates using alkaline eluents and pulsed amperometric detection. The ion exchanger column is based on a styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer. It is very stable under alkaline conditions and gives an outstanding separation of mono- and disaccharides. It is also suitable for the analysis of sugar alcohols and oligosaccharides.
