The determination of the total acid number (TAN) or total base number (TBN) is essential in the oil industry. Mainly because of the solvent used and the oil-smeared titration beakers ever more laboratories are converting to a comfortable automated system in which the oil only sees the disposable sample beaker and everything else takes place fully automatically - from adding the solvent mixture up to saving the results in a professional database.

The ground joint diaphragm can be taken apart to allow the Solvotrode to be thoroughly cleaned and this, together with the long-term stability of the «Long Life» reference system, results in a user-friendly sensor.
